Dell PowerConnect 3248 SSH Support

The Powerconnect 3248 running OS version 2.0.0.21 supports SSH1 access only. If the switch is running version 1.x opdcode, SSH access is not supported at all.

The Powerconnect 3248 limits password length to 8 characters Attempting to deploy passwords longer than 8 characters will fail and the original password will remain in effect.

Configuration Deployment to Running

Dell PowerConnect 3248 configuration deployment

The Dell 3248 can use tftp to deploy to running or startup, however NAS cannot determine success or failure of the transfer to running, so it is not supported in the driver. Configuration deployment to startup or startup with reload is supported.

Syslog Configuration and Change Detection

Dell PowerConnect 3248 minimal syslog support

This device can be configured for Syslog notification via NAS if the device is running version 2.x opcode, however the device appears to limit functonality to warm start notifications. Snapshots will not be triggered via Syslog for this device.
