Release Notes

Device discovery via SSH/telnet on 5308XL devices configured without passwords is unreliable.

On HP Procurve 5308 devices configured without password authentication, SSH/telnet device discovery will occasionally fail due to the inconsistent display of the signon banner page. For reliable device discovery via SSH/telnet, passwords should be set for the Operator or Manager access accounts on HP Procurve 5308 devices.

Modifying the hostmane on HP ProCurve 25xx

The default exec and enable prompt of the HP ProCurve switches include the ">" and "#" as ending characters, respectively. Although the hostname of HP ProCurve switches can contain these two characters by design, they should be omitted, otherwise, the system could potentially get out of sync during any task.

SSH problems on OS versions older than F05.72

When using SSH as a connection method, the HP Procurve 25xx switches running OS versions older than F05.72 might have some issues that could result in hanging/freezing the switch. In this case switch will not respond to any connection attempt and needs to be rebooted (doesn’t switch packets either).

Workaround:

We recommend upgrading the OS version to versions newer than F05.72 or using only Telnet as access method
