Packeteer devices do not require a specific username to perform a Telnet session from the device. However, the username is needed when using FTP. When adding Packeteer devices to NAS, you must include the FTP password in the 'enable password' section of the Device Information.
Older Packeteer devices use "config save" to save the configuration to a file, but some newer models use "setup capture complete". By default, the driver does the latter, but the former command can be used by setting the device access variable "legacy_config_save" to "true".
Due to device restrictions, NAS will not deploy changes that show up in the snapshot under the "Non-sharable (local) settings:" area.
The deployed firmware version will be active only after a device reboot.
The Packeteer PacketShaperd device does not validate a firmware image after it is transferred to the device. Caution should be used when using NAS to deploy software images to the device.
