Description

This out-of-the box data integration imports HP Network Automation (NA) data into Executive Scorecard.  The data is then combined with other data sources, transformed, analyzed, and loaded as metrics on a series of Executive Scorecard tabs.

The NA data includes network devices, policies, network changes tasks data and is used to build key performance indicators (KPIs) for an executive level view of the organization.

The section below lists the KPIs that display the data extracted from the data source and provides a description of the KPIs and the business motivation for each KPI.

% of Managed Nodes KPI

  • Business Questions: Reduce the risk by increasing the percentage of managed Devices. Breadkwon by Node Role: servers, network devices and storage devices.
  • Business Objective: Increase Compliance
  • Description: The number of managed nodes relative to the total number of nodes.
  • Context: PolicyCompliance
  • Data Source: SA, NA

% of Nodes with Compliance Issues KPI

  • Business Questions: Make sure our node compliance procedures are efficient.
  • Business Objective: Increase Compliance
  • Description: The number of nodes that were not compliant during the KPI Period relative to the total number of nodes.

% of Successful Patches KPI

  • Business Questions: Reduce the risk by increasing the rate of successful patches.
  • Business Objective: Achieve Process Excellence
  • The number of successful patches relative to the total number of patches.

Average Time to Configure a Node KPI

  • Business Questions: Make sure our node configuration procedures are efficient.
  • Business Objective: Improve ROI of Automation
  • Description: The average time it takes to configure a node

Average Time to Patch a Node KPI

  • Business Questions: Measures how fast the IT department reacts to security vulnerabilities.
  • Business Objective: Accelerate Agility
  • Description: The average time it takes to patch a node.

Average Time to Provision a Node KPI

  • Business Questions: Measures the time needed to provision an asset with the goal of reducing that time period. It can be broken down by Node Role: applications, databases, virtual, physical, storage, network devices, and more.

  • Description: The average time it takes to provision a node.

Average Time to Run Compliance KPI

  • Business Questions: Measure the time it takes to run compliance of nodes. Breakdown by policy type (e.g.: security).
  • Business Objective: Increase Compliance
  • Description: The average time it takes to run a compliance.
  • Context: PolicyCompliance
  • Data Source: SA, NA

Frequency of Policy Checks KPI

  • Business Questions: Make sure our policy check procedure is efficient.
  • Business Objective: Increase Compliance
  • Measures how frequently compliance checks are run during the measurement period.
  • Context: PolicyCompliance

Mean Time to Recover from Non-Compliance KPI

  • Business Questions: The motivation is to both reduce the risk from the perspective of compliancy issues and to improve the responsiveness and agility of IT. Compliant entities can be servers, network devices, applications. The attribute MTTI should be captured at few levels at SA, NA. Might also be based on CMDB CI life-cycle. Should be based on the ability to identify the need to perform remediation until patch is actually executed.

  • Description: It represents the length of time and service level to which a business process must be restored after a non-compliance in order to avoid unacceptable consequences associated with a break in business continuity.

Mean Time for Hardening KPI
