HPE Cloud Service Automation (HPE CSA) with OpenStack private cloud environments enabling you to automate OpenStack resources through the execution of HPE Operation Orchestration (HPE OO) flows coordinated through the service design created in CSA.
Facilitated through CSA's tight integration with OO, this integration is delivered as part of an CSA content pack and currently supports service design components that align with OpenStack's nodes for Openstack's Compute, Networking, and Storage.
Through CSA's Identity management (IDM) service, the authentication to OpenStack resources is validated through the opensource Keystone service. The IDM service acts as a bridge between Keystone and the more common corporate directory service authentication control points found in most enterprises.
Although CSA integrates with Openstack, many functions must be initially configured and managed in the Horizon administrative console. This includes the management of compute node images and storage.
This content pack provides flows to configure persistent block-level storage devices for use with OpenStack compute instances. The block storage system manages the tasks of creating, attaching, and detaching the block devices to servers. Snapshot management provides a powerful backup functionality for backing-up data stored on block-storage volumes. Snapshots can be restored or used to create a new block storage volume; however, these actions are performed through the Horizon UI.
OpenStack is a global collaboration of developers and cloud computing technologists who produce the open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds. OpenStack aims to deliver solutions for all types of clouds by being simple to implement, massively scalable, and feature rich. The technology consists of a series of interrelated projects delivering various components for a cloud infrastructure solution.
