How to create a remote desktop connection

A remote desktop connection is a useful tool to connect one Windows computer to another Windows computer.

Example:

As a user, you might want to troubleshoot a device associated with an incident. From Service Asset and Configuration Management, you can locate the device record. If the device is a networked Windows device, Service Management enables you to connect to it.

  1. From the main menu, select Build > Service Asset & Configuration.

  2. From SACM Home, select Devices.

  3. Search for the device record.

To filter the record list, click the Add filter  button. For more information, see Filters.

  4. Click the record identifier in the ID column to display the selected record.
  5. Click Remote Connection icon Remote Connection on the toolbar.

The Remote Connection button is not available if the device displayed in the selected record is not a Windows computer.

  6. Select an available connection.

Connections can appear as a Name, DNS Name, or an IP address.
