On-Premise Bridge Agents and Endpoints

The On-Premise Bridge is a platform that enables communication between on-premise applications and Service Management - in both directions. Because on-premise applications are located behind firewalls, initiating a connection from Service Management to an on-premise application is not possible; therefore, a "bridge" component is required.

On-Premise Bridge is composed of:

  • On-Premise Bridge Agent. The agent is a software component that is installed on the customer site and mediates between Service Management and an on-premise application. The agent initiates communications with Service Management in order to receive tasks from it.

  • Service Management On-Premise Bridge Service. The service is the entry point for submitting tasks by Service Management applications and for On-Premise Bridge Agents to request tasks. In addition to allowing execution of tasks on the agents, this layer is also responsible for the registration and management of agents, monitoring, secure communication with the agents, and so on.

Note It is recommended to replace the certificate for Service Management Automation before using On-Premise Bridge agents and endpoints, refer to Replace the certificate for SMA.
