Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |

Idea and Proposal Management
Service Management users may come up with innovative ideas every now and then. No matter whether the ideas are aimed at improving the IT infrastructure, services, processes, or tools, you can always submit them through the Service Portal or the Idea and Proposal Management module in Service Management.
Ideation is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas. The Idea and Proposal Management module enables a company to directly collect feedback from the service consumer, which ensures continuous improvement of the IT service and drives innovation.
With social collaboration, ideas can evolve to proposals or changes after being categorized, reviewed, and approved. When you have an approved idea in place, you can create a proposal or change record in Service Management by simply a few clicks. When the proposal is created, you officially enter the project and portfolio management domain.
In the Idea and Proposal Management module, the following features are provided:
- Ideas: Enables users to create and edit ideas, which will be categorized, reviewed, and approved by business owners or review board members. With this feature, a change or proposal record can be created from an approved idea. Administrators can also customize the process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.
- Proposals: Enables users to manage the proposal life cycle through refinement, review, and approval. Portfolio managers can also leverage the Proposal Analytics feature to analyze proposals, evaluate business values, and select candidate projects. Approved proposals can later be implemented by other project management applications.
- Resource types: Enables users to create resources for planning capacity for portfolios, programs, and projects in Service Management.
- Proposal analytics: Enables portfolio managers to analyze proposals and evaluate their business values when selecting candidate projects.
- Business Objectives: Provides a simple and effective way for portfolio managers to set up and manage high-level business objectives, which can be leveraged by proposals.
