Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

How to Search and Consume Resources in Resource Manager
This
Note Users who search and consume various resources in the Resource Manager module need the corresponding permissions for the resources and the modules they access.
If users do not have enough general action permissions, an error message will pop up asking them to check the logs for details about which permission is missing.
For non-admin users who need to access the Resource Manager module, the administrator needs to assign them the following permissions:
- In UCMDB UI, go to Security > Roles Manager.
-
In the Roles pane, select the role for the target users, then in the General Actions tab pane for the role, select the following actions in the Available Actions pane and move them to Selected Actions pane:
- Data Retrieval Actions > Run Query by Definition
- System Access Actions > Access to SDK
- Configuration Management Actions > Deploy Packages
-
In the Resources tab pane for the role you selected, assign View permission for the desired view and/or query resources.
Tip It is recommended to add desired view/query resources into resource groups, then associate View permission with the resource groups.
- Save the change.
Note
- A model is a CI, therefore non-admin users will get the same results as an admin user gets when navigating and searching models.
- If a model is assigned to a user tenant (say, TenantA), while a non-admin user (for example, a user with view permission only) is not assigned to TenantA, then the non-admin user does not have the permission to search this model.
- Log in to UCMDB Browser as an admin user.
-
Expand the drop-down list to the right of the top search bar, select Queries & Models or Views & Reports, and then type a search string (for example app) in the search bar.
