How to create a subscription record

You can create a subscription for a user from the following:

• The Subscriptions part of Service Asset & Configuration

  1. From the main menu, select Build >Service Asset & Configuration.

  2. From SACM Home, select Subscriptions.

  3. Click New. The New Subscription dialog box is displayed. For more information, see New Subscription dialog box.

• The actual service underlying the subscription

  1. From the main menu, select Build >Service Asset & Configuration.

  2. From SACM Home, select Actual Services.

  3. Select the actual services record you want.

  4. Click the record identifier in the ID column to display the selected record.

  5. Click the Subscribers tab.

  6. Click Add a subscriber. The New Subscription dialog box is displayed. For more information, see New Subscription dialog box.

The dialog box contains the following:

1. Subscription details

   Field	Description
   Display label	This field is automatically populated when the Subscribed service part of the dialog box is completed.
   Start date	The date the subscription is to start.
   End date	The date the subscription is to end.
   Subscriber	The user who is to be the subscriber.
   Subscriber group	The group that is to be the subscriber. If there is a subscriber, this field may be left blank.
   Subscription status	On creation, this field is automatically populated with Pending. The status may be one of: Paused Active Expired Canceled Pending Terminated

2. Subscribed service

   Field	Description
   Based on service definition	The subscription is based on a service definition. This comes from either the service definition where the initiated offering is, or from the service definition containing the subscribed actual service. For example, assume the following: there is a service definition Mobile Phones. Under this service, there is an offering: Order New Mobile Subscription. If a user requests that offering, fulfilling the request creates a subscription. The subscription is based on the Mobile Phones service definition, so the value of this field is Mobile Phones.
   Service	The actual service, as defined in Service Asset and Configuration Management, to be in the subscription.	A subscription may include only one actual service, or one device, or one infrastructure and peripheral asset.
   Device	The device to be in the subscription.
   Infrastructure and peripheral	The infrastructure and peripheral asset to be in the subscription.

3. Cost

   Field	Description
   Initial cost	The basic, minimum, upfront price of the subscription.
   Recurring cost	This is the extra amount charged for the subscription, every time period specified in the recurring period field.
   Currency	The currency used for the costs.
   Recurring period	If applicable, this is how often the recurring price is charged for the subscription.

In subscriptions, click Save, Save & add another, or Save & Edit, as appropriate. Service Management returns to the list of subscriptions.

In an actual service record, click Save, or Save & add another, as appropriate. Service Management returns to the actual service.

Depending on how you have configured Service Management, users can submit a request which automatically creates a subscription when the request is fulfilled. For information about configuring Service Management for subscriptions, see How to configure Service Management for subscriptions.

A user in the Service Portal can click the portal menu and select Services and Assets, and from there can update, renew, cancel, and create subscriptions by submitting the appropriate requests and having these fulfilled.
