How to create a project

You can create a project in the following ways:

ClosedIn Project and Program Management

  1. From the main menu, select Plan > Project & Program > Projects. Service Management displays a list of projects.

  2. Click New icon New. Service Management displays the New Project form. Service Management does not assign an ID until you save the project.

  3. Complete the following fields:

    Field Description
    Title Enter a title for the project.
    Description Enter a description that captures the details of the project.
    Start date Select the date on which the project begins.
    End date Select the date on which the project ends.
    Business objective Select a business objective that the project is aligned with from the list, or type a few characters to search for the name.
    Business unit Select a business unit to which this project applies from the list, or type a few characters to search for the name.
    Business value

    Specify the estimated value that the project brings to the organization (in thousands).

    Note The estimated business value should be greater than 0.

    Target service Select a service that the project is aligned with from the list, or type a few characters to search for the name.

  4. Click Save when you are finished.

    The project opens with the General tab displayed.

ClosedIn Release Management

  1. From the main menu, select Build > Release.

  2. Select the release record from which you want to create a project..

  3. Click the record identifier in the ID column to display the selected record.

  4. Click > Create project from record. Service Management displays the new project form with the values copied from the original record.

  5. Enter the details for the new record, and click Save icon Save on the toolbar.

ClosedIn Change Management

  1. From the main menu, select Build > Change.

  2. Select the change record from which you want to create a project.

  3. Click the record identifier in the ID column to display the selected record.

  4. Click > Create project from record. Service Management displays the new project form with the values copied from the original record.

  5. Enter the details for the new record, and click Save icon Save on the toolbar.
