How to edit a subscription record

Note A user in the Service Portal can update, renew, cancel, and create subscriptions by clicking the portal menu Portal menu image and selecting Services.

You can edit multiple records simultaneously by selecting them in the grid and updating them in the Preview pane on the right. For more information, see Mass update.

  1. From the main menu, select Build >Service Asset & Configuration.

  2. From SACM Home, select Subscriptions.

  3. Select the subscription record. Click the record identifier in the Id column to display the selected record.

  4. By default, the subscription record is displayed with the General tab selected. Click the tab you want to edit or view:

    Tab Description
    General Displays details of the selected record. For more information, see General tab.
    Workflow

    Displays the workflow for the subscription. To change the status to inactive, you must have the appropriate rights.

    Related records Displays requests that initiated or updated the subscription. For more information, see Related records tab.
    Discussions Displays any relevant conversations about the current record. For more information about discussions, see Discussions.
    History Displays changes to the selected record. For more information about history, see History.
  5. Save your changes.

General tab

Subscription details

Field Description
Display label This field is automatically populated when the Subscribed service part of the dialog box is completed.
Start date The date the subscription is to start.
End date The date the subscription is to end.
Subscriber The user who is to be the subscriber.
Subscriber group. The group that is to be the subscriber. If there is a subscriber, this field may be left blank.
Subscription status

The status of the subscription.

Subscribed service

Note A subscription includes only one of Subscribed to service, Subscribed to device, or Subscribed to infrastructure.

Field Description
Based on service

The subscription is based on a service definition. This comes from either the service definition where the initiated offering is, or from the service definition containing the subscribed actual service.

For example, assume the following: there is a service definition Mobile Phones. Under this service, there is an offering: Order New Mobile Subscription. If a user requests that offering, fulfilling the request creates a subscription. The subscription is based on the Mobile Phones service definition, so the value of this field is Mobile Phones.

Service The actual service, as defined in Service Asset and Configuration Management, in the subscription.
Device The device in the subscription.
Infrastructure and peripheral The infrastructure and peripheral asset in the subscription.

Cost

Field Description
Initial cost The basic, minimum, upfront price of the subscription.
Recurring cost This is the extra amount charged for the subscription, every time period specified in the recurring period field.
Currency The currency used for the costs.
Recurring period If applicable, this is how often the recurring price is charged for the subscription.

Related records tab

Section Description
Initiated by request The request initiating the subscription.
Updated by request

This section displays a list of requests updating the subscription.

  • Click Add to add a link to a request that updates the subscription.

  • Select the request in the list, and click Remove to remove the link.
