Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse

How to configure Service Management for subscriptions
You must have the appropriate permissions to configure Service Management for subscriptions.
-
Prerequisites
-
A suitably comprehensive Service Catalog. For more information, see Service Catalog Management.
-
A review of the Service Catalog offerings to determine - taking into account the needs, resources, and capabilities of the service provider and the customer - which of the offerings is best delivered as a subscription for a service.
For example, assume the following: there is a service definition Mobile Phones. Under this service, there is an offering: Order New Mobile Subscription. Once a request for this offering is approved and fulfilled, each department's budget is charged the monthly costs. Instead of ownership of the asset, subscription is more suitable.
-
-
For each of the relevant offerings, edit the Action type and Required asset information fields, to include subscription information.
For example, assume the following: there is a service definition Mobile Phones. Under this service, there is an offering: Change Mobile Plan and Options. To configure for subscription functionality, the Action type is Update and the Required asset information is Subscription.
As another example, using the same service definition, there is an offering: Order New Mobile Subscription. To configure for subscription functionality, the Action type is Create subscription and Required asset information remains empty.
-
For each of the relevant offerings, edit the Price tab, to include subscription information. For more information, see Price tab.
-
For each of the relevant offerings, edit the Task Plan, to include subscription information. For more information, see Task plan tab.
For example, consider the Order New Mobile Subscription offering. The Catalog Administrator can modify the task plan to do the following:
-
Reserve a mobile phone from stock, or place a purchase order.
-
Complete registration with the mobile operator as needed.
-
Deliver the phone to the requester.
-
Set the completion code and solution on the request.
As another example, assume that under the service definition Mobile Phones, there is an offering: Cancel Mobile Subscription. The Catalog Administrator can modify the task plan to do the following:
-
Complete deregistration from the mobile operator.
-
Secure return of the phone.
-
Return the phone to stock.
-
Set the completion code and solution on the request.
