User options pricing example

The following example assumes you want the basic price of an offering for a new laptop to be $1,000, with a $20 monthly recurring cost. You also want to add extra pricing for the offering, depending on the processor type, or whether the request is also for a monitor.

To do this, take the following steps:

  1. From the main menu, select Plan > Service Catalog > Offerings.

  2. Select the relevant offering, and click Details.

  3. In the User options tab, click New field. The properties display in the right pane.

  4. Complete the following:

    Property Action
    Name Type Processor
    Display name Type Processor
    Field type Select List
    Field size Select MEDIUM
    Required Ensure this is selected
    Visibility Select User
    List

    1. Click to add a new list

    2. Type Standard as the name and display name

    3. Click OK
    List items

    1. Click to add the list items

    2. Type COREi7 as the name and CORE i7 vPro as the display name

    3. Click Add another

    4. Type COREi5 as the name and CORE i5 as the display name

    5. Click OK

  5. Click New field. The properties display in the right pane.

  6. Complete the following:

    Property Action
    Name Type Monitor
    Display name Type Monitor
    Field type Select Boolean
    Field size Select MEDIUM
    Visibility Select User

  7. Click Save.

  8. Select the Price tab:

  9. Open the Basic pricing section, and complete the following:

    Property Action
    Currency Select USD($)
    Price Type 1000
    Recurring price Type 20
    Recurring period Select Monthly

  10. Open the Additional price added per user option section, and complete the following:

    Property Action
    CORE i7 vPro - Price Type 350
    CORE i7 vPro - Recurring price Type 15
    CORE i5 - Price Type 100
    CORE i5 - Recurring price Type 10
    Monitor - Price Type 250
    Monitor - Recurring price Type 5

  11. Click Save.

If a request is made for a laptop with no options:

  • The basic price is: $1,000

  • The monthly recurring price is: $20

If a request is made for a laptop with the CORE i5:

  • The basic price is: $1,100 (1,000 + 100)

  • The monthly recurring price is: $30 (20 + 10)

If a request is made for a laptop with the CORE i5 and Monitor:

  • The basic price is: $1,350 (1,000 + 100 + 250)

  • The monthly recurring price is: $35 (20 + 10 + 5)
