Optimization workflow

This section describes the metaphases and subordinate phases in the life cycle of an optimization record.

Search for	Example	Results
A single word	`cat`	Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats".
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase.	`"cat food"` (quotation marks)	Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase.

The optimization workflow relies on business rules. Rules repeat from one phase to another when the end user can make a change to a field affected by a business rule during that phase. Metaphase: Creation

The optimization record is created.

Metaphase: Preparation

A survey is sent to the application owners and responses are collected.

Send survey	Automatic	The survey is sent to the application owners. The record is automatically transitioned to the Wait for response phase when the survey is sent successfully. The record is automatically transitioned to the Resend survey phase when the survey is failed to send to the application owners. Next phase: Wait for response or Resend survey
Wait for response	Manual	Survey responses are collected from the application owners. Transition the record to the Assess phase when the application owners complete the survey. Next phase: Assess
Resend survey	Manual	The record is automatically moved to the Resend survey phase if the survey is failed to send to the application owners. Transition the record to the Send survey phase to try sending the survey again. Next phase: Send Survey

Metaphase: Assessment

Data is assessed through an algorithm.
