What's New in CMS 2018.05

Starting with version 2018.05, the UCMDB Browser with new UI modules is officially renamed to CMS UI.

• Administration and Supportability

  • Improves the data quality of your CMS by enabling you to analyze data-in using the Reconciliation Analyzer

    This release improves the data quality of your CMS by enabling you to analyze data-in using the Reconciliation Analyzer. The Reconciliation Analyzer helps you understand how the reconciliation process works. With this capability, you can find what happened with a CI that may have merged with another CI, and view the following information:

    • All the changes made to the searched CI (create, update, or remove CI), listed in chronological order, grouped by reconciliation Operations
    • The reasons why the CI was changed, including a list of identification candidates, and the reasons for matching the searched CI with them.

  • Added support for SAML authentication on CMS UI

    This release added support for SAML authentication on CMS UI. Now users can also access CMS UI based on the authentication assertion received from the Identity Provider (IdP). It passes the authentication responsibility to IdP and the users automatically log in to the CMS UI when a successful response is received from IdP.

    Additionally, SAML logout is enabled on UCMDB Server and on CMS UI. For more information, see Enable SAML Authentication on CMS UI in CMS UI Help.

  • New capabilities with the Integration Studio module

    The Integration Studio module in CMS UI introduces the following functionality:

    • Delete multiple integration jobs at the same time

    • Disable all integration points

• Improvements to the CMS UI landing page

  • Expanded search capability to include basic reports

    • Users can now search basic reports from the top search bar.
    • When searching for a resource, basic reports can also show up in the auto-suggestion list.
  • Added 3 out-of-the-box (OOTB) reports: Network Devices, Storage Devices, and AWS CLOUD
  • Capability of hiding out-of-the-box (OOTB) widgets: You can use the new Settings icon on the landing page to hide OOTB widgets.
  • Capability of editing widget header: The Tile Settings icon available on each widget allows you to edit the widget header.
• Other general improvements to CMS UI

Administration and Supportability

• Added support for AES 256 encryption mode

  This release introduced new security mode with AES 256 encryption for better data security. You can upgrade UCMDB server to the AES 256 encryption mode if necessary. For details, see How to Upgrade UCMDB to AES 256 Mode.

• Launch UCMDB Server Admin UI as a Desktop Application from UCMDB Local Client

  The UCMDB Local Client tool introduced in this release enables you to launch the administrative GUI of a target UCMDB server as a desktop application, without the need for the Oracle JVM installed on that desktop. It also allows you to manage login configurations for multiple UCMDB servers easily from a central place. It is available for use on all supported versions of UCMDB. • Added capability for creating a custom login splash screen

  In some cases, you may require users to acknowledge something (for example, legal or security restrictions) before they can log in to UCMDB. To do this, you can display a splash screen that requires user confirmation before the login screen is displayed. When enabled, the splash screen is displayed before users log in to the following UCMDB components: CMS UI, UCMDB UI, and JMX Console.

• Enable sending integration reports via emails

  For easy monitoring of the integration status and troubleshooting integration issues, you can enable sending the following integration reports via emails by configuring the newly introduced infrastructure settings (UCMDB UI > Administration > Infrastructure Settings Manager) or using JMX Console:

  • Integration Summary Report: Contains basic information about all activated integration points and their related jobs.
  • Integration Job Report: Contains basic information about the integration jobs and related queries.

• Generate separate log files based on integration point names

  This release improves the ability to troubleshoot issues with integrations by adding the capability to generate separate log files based on the integration point names (for example, fcmdb.integrationPointName.log) for each integration point. You can configure the new parameter integration.log.mode introduced in the DataFlowProbe.properties file to indicate the log mode for integration adapters that are based on the Generic Adapter Framework. • Other

  • Added Merge CIs action in the Role definition (Security > Roles Manager > Resources tab > Resources Type > CIT Menu Items > Available Actions), allowing non-administrator users to perform this action.
  • Added Maximum/Minimum Memory attributes on Discovery Probe Gateway/Manager CIs. To view or edit the attributes of these CIs, change the value of the infrastructure setting Object Root to Root and log in again.
  • Added a boolean type option skipSaveResultToDisk to the calculateTqlAdHocWithLayout JMX method. Setting the option to False saves the TQL result to UCMDB server runtime folder as a text file.

Universal Discovery Inventory

Enhanced the Inventory Discovery by Scanner and Inventory Discovery by Manual Scanner Deployment jobs to properly discover Visual Studio edition on Windows platform.

Universal Discovery Agent

• Added support for AES 256-bit encryption in UD Agent.
• Added a UD Agent command line parameter --version to return the version number of the installed UD Agent in your environment.

Integrations

• Added support for integrating the following application versions to the existing integrations:

  • Micro Focus Network Automation (NA) 10.50
  • Micro Focus Network Node Manager (NNMi) 10.50

• Added a new attribute discoverDeviceGroup to the Pull Topology from Network Automation adapter. This attribute indicates whether to discover Device Group CIs. The default value is true.

  You can now pull LastSnapshotAttemptDate from NA to UCMDB. For details, see "How to Pull LastSnapshotAttemptDate from NA" in the Content Pack Help for version 27.00.

• Added a new parameter deleteRelations=false to the push.properties file of the Data Push into Atrium adapter. By default, UCMDB deletes CIs and their connected relationships. If this value is set to true, UCMDB supports the following two scenarios:

  • Deletes CIs and their connected relationships

  • Deletes relationships only

• Enhanced ServiceNow Integration Using Enhanced Generic Adapter with:

  • Support for flexible deployment by adding methods of referencing ServiceNow data in UCMDB, including the referenced topology, referencing topology, and relationship-based topology
  • Support for Jakarta and Kingston
  • Improved usability

• Added a new attribute amazon_resource_name to AWS Resource CI to represent the discovered name of Amazon Resource.

• Added a new parameter Trust All SSL Certificates to the JEE Weblogic by JMX and JEE Weblogic Connections by JMX jobs.

  This parameter determines whether to trust all SSL certificates if the WebLogic server does not have a valid one. The default value is false.

• Added support for PowerCmd in the following jobs:

  • IIS Applications by NTCMD or UDA or PowerCmd (formerly IIS Applications by NTCMD or UDA)
  • Microsoft Message Queue Topology by NTCMD or UDA or PowerCmd (formerly Microsoft Message Queue Topology by NTCMD or UDA)
  • MS Cluster by NTCMD or UDA or PowerCmd (formerly MS Cluster by NTCMD or UDA)
