Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |

Date and time
When a user enters a date and time into a Service Management record, the software stores this information:
-
As a single field.
-
Converted to UTC±00:00.
When a user views that information, the software automatically converts the information and displays it according to the time zone of the user's computer.
For example, assume a user in New York adds a start time of April 25 at 9.00 PM to a change record. The software stores this as April 26 at 1.00 AM UTC, because then New York time is UTC-04:00. If a user in Paris views that record, it is displayed as April 26 at 3.00 AM, because then Paris time is UTC+02:00.
Note A user with the appropriate permission may set maintenance, blackout, work schedule, and event time periods (in Time Management) to different time zones. For more information, see Time Period Management.
Date only
When a user is permitted to only enter a date into a Service Management record, the software stores this information as a date with an assumed time of midnight UTC. Accordingly, all users see the same date, regardless of the calendar settings on their computer.
