How to create a proposal from an idea

When an idea is closed, a proposal can be created from this idea when the idea is worth implementing and investigating.

After you create a proposal from an idea, Service Management automatically creates a relationship between the records. The proposal appears in the Related proposal field of the idea.

Note  

  • When the review decision is Create a change, the Create proposal button is disabled.
  • Data domain assignments are copied when you create a proposal from an idea. For more information about data domains, see Data domain segmentation.

To create a proposal from an idea:

  1. From the main menu, select Plan > Idea & Proposal > Ideas.

  2. Select the idea from which you want to create a proposal.

    To filter the record list, click the Add filter  button. For more information, see Filters.

  3. Click the idea identifier in the Id column to display the selected idea.

    The idea is displayed with the General tab selected.

  4. In the Review decision field of the Review details section , select Create a proposal.
  5. In the Review feedback field, enter the review feedback that supports your review decision.
  6. Click Save.
  7. At the top of the idea form, click Create proposal.

    The New proposal dialog box is displayed. The proposal title and description are prefilled.

  8. In Proposal details and Classifications sections, complete the required fields.

  9. In Attachments, add any supporting files by clicking Add.

    Note

    • The following file formats are supported: jpg; jpeg; gif; png; doc; docx; ppt; pptx; xls; xlsx; pdf; txt; xml; zip; msg; sql; gz; rar; tar; 7z.

    • The maximum file size of an attachment is 10 MB.

    • If the Attachments field has been defined as encrypted for this record type and you are a member of an encryption domain, click Add encrypted attachments to attach an encrypted file to the record.

    • Attachments are not visible in the Service Portal.

  10. Click Save when you are finished.
