Clients

Service Manager includes the following two client interfaces:

  • A web client that runs in a web browser and accesses the Service Manager server through a URL.
  • A Windows client that runs as an application on a Windows host and accesses the Service Manager server through a client/server connection.

The following diagram illustrates how each type of client connects to the Service Manager server.

Both clients provide end users access to the Service Manager applications. The Windows client, however, offers additional functionality, such as the ability to create forms and access the database dictionary. The Windows client is intended for administrators and implementers.
