Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|

- Service Asset and Configuration Management
Asset models
In Service Management Service Asset and Configuration Management, an asset model is a multi-level classification you can apply to your assets to help define how they are managed.
For example, the following is part of a sample asset model:
-
Office equipment and accessories
-
Audio & visual meeting equipment
-
Projectors & supplies
-
Audio conference systems
-
Video conference systems
-
-
Labeling machines
-
Dating or numbering machines
-
Label making machines
-
Label applying machines
-
Semi automatic labeling systems
-
Automatic labeling systems
-
Identification ID press machines
-
-
Boards
-
Electronic copy boards or accessories
-
Magnetic boards or accessories
-
Interactive whiteboards or accessories
-
-
Often, the first level of the asset model is more of a category than a model which can be instantiated. For example: Laptop. At the next level down the models might be Developer laptop, Sales laptop, and so on. At the next level down from that, the models might be Ultra high mobility laptop, High mobility laptop, Standard mobility laptop, and so on.
Similar models - effectively similar assets - have similar information; a similar set of fields. Assets of a particular model are capable of being managed in the same way.
You can use asset models when creating records for devices, infrastructure & peripheral assets, and licenses in Service Management. This allows you, for example, to benefit from the available standard multilevel classification, and maximize consistent record keeping.
