Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse

How to create a manual reservation
You may need to create a manual reservation for a request if automatic reservation fails. For example, this may be because there are no assets of the appropriate model available in stock.
The following is an example of how to create a manual reservation. To do the procedure, there must be a pre-existing request created with (DEMO) Request a new PC as the selected offering.
-
From the main menu, select Run > Service Request > Requests.
-
Select the request, and click Details. The request record is displayed.
-
Click the Reservation tab. The Reserve assets section is empty.
-
Click Add. The Reserve Asset dialog box is displayed.
Tip With the displayed information, whoever is responsible for completing the manual reservation can reserve the asset according to whatever the stockroom policy is. For example, to reserve the asset with the nearest warranty end date, or with a first in first out policy based on the stockroom entry date.
Note Add is disabled if any of the following are true:
-
The request is in the Done metaphase.
-
Requested asset model is empty.
-
There is an active reservation record for the request.
-
-
Select one of the laptop records which is displayed, and click Reserve. The selected device is displayed in the Reserve assets section.
Note To enable manual reservation a location should be defined on either the Request.RegisteredForLocation field or the Request.RequestedForPerson.Location field.
-
From the main menu, select Tasks. Complete the remaining tasks:
-
Select the Prepare PC task.
-
Click Completed, then Save.
The next stage is the task "Close reservation." This task is automatically completed.
