How to Rename Management Zones

You can rename existing management zones by using the new Rename option in the management zone context menu. The Rename option is enabled when the selected management zone and all jobs in the corresponding activities in the management zone are deactivated.

Renaming a management zone might last longer for management zones with larger number of discovery activities/jobs.

Also, renaming the management zones would result in renaming of all of the jobs in the corresponding discovery activities. It means that new directories for these jobs will be created in the C:\UCMDB\DataFlowProbe\runtime\communicationLog directory of the probes. This can result in much increased disk usage as the size of the logs (if always enabled) could run into gigabytes. So manual cleanup of the communication log directories belonging to the jobs with the old management zone naming would be required .

Rename Management Zones

To rename a Management Zone,

  1. Go to Data Flow Management > Universal Discovery > Zone-based Discovery.

  2. Right-click the Management Zone you want to rename, and then select Rename from the context menu.

Note If the Rename option is disabled, click Deactivate to deactivate the selected Management Zone and all of the corresponding discovery activities.

  3. Enter the new management zone name, and then click OK.
  4. Go to the C:\UCMDB\DataFlowProbe\runtime\communicationLog directory, perform a backup of the communication log directories belonging to the jobs with the old management zone naming (if necessary), and manually clean up these directories.
