Asset model process - Business rules

The asset model workflow relies on a few simple business rules. Rules repeat from one phase to another when the end user can make a change to a field affected by a business rule during that phase.

Asset model global rules

In the out-of-the-box asset model workflow, the rules detailed for each of the following events apply to all processes.

Category is null or false

Validate: Asset type is not empty

If the model is not to be a folder or category, the model type must be specified.

Infrastructure & peripheral subtype is Rack, Fire Protection, Cooling, Power Supply, or Security Control Infrastructure & peripheral category = Infrastructure
Infrastructure & peripheral subtype is Monitor, Mass Storage, RFID, Projector, or Telecommunication Infrastructure & peripheral category = Peripheral
Model type is not Device Device subtype = null
Category is empty Category = false
Parent model is not empty Full name = Parent model Full name + "/" + Display label
Parent model is empty Full name = Display label
Full name is changed Update Full name of child models
Cost type is not empty, Parent model is changed, and Cost type of the parent model is not empty Cost type = Cost type of the parent model
Rendering Model type is not Infrastructure & Peripheral Infrastructure & peripheral subtype = hidden
Device subtype = hidden
Model type is not Infrastructure & Peripheral Infrastructure & peripheral category = hidden
Model type is not License License subtype = hidden
Category is true Total amount = hidden
Category is true Currency = hidden
Model type is not blank Restrict selectable Parent model according to current model type.
Depreciation scheme is not Geometric Hide Depreciation rate
None Show only active cost types in the Cost type drop-down list
Model type is empty Show only models that are not duplicated in the Parent model drop-down list

Inactive phase

In the out-of-the-box asset model workflow, the following rule applies to the Inactive phase.
