Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

Adjusting OMi Settings
To increase robustness of your SIM topology integration with OMi, you must adjust the setting for a particular configuration type attribute in OMi. Additionally, to avoid problems caused by a complex monitored infrastructure, you may want to adjust an OMi setting for data chunking.
It is recommended that you perform the procedure for adjustment of the External ID attribute in any case.
Configuration Type Attribute: External ID
Fully qualified domain names (FQDNs) of the monitored systems might be relatively long. To accommodate longer FQDNs, adjust the size of the External ID attribute of the Data configuration item (CI) type in OMi. Follow the steps:
-
Log on to the OMi web interface.
-
Navigate to Administration > Setup and Maintenance > Infrastructure Settings.
-
Click the Foundations radio button.
-
From the Foundations drop-down list, select RTSM.
-
In the RTSM - General Settings part, click the Edit icon on the right-hand side of the line for the Object Root setting.
-
In the Edit Setting window, replace the content of the Value text box with the string
root
. -
Click Save to apply the change and close the window.
-
Navigate to Administration > RTSM Administration > Modeling > CI Type Manager.
-
In the CI Types pane, select Data under Root.
-
In the toolbar, click Attributes.
-
In the Display Name column, select External ID.
-
Click the Edit icon in the toolbar.
-
In the Details page of the Edit Attribute window, replace the default value in the Value Size text box (
50
) with a suitably higher value. For example, you can specify the value200
. -
Click OK to apply the change and close the window.
RTSM Setting: Data Push Chunk Size
If the infrastructure monitored by SIM is relatively large, the quantity of the forwarded topology data is also largeāat least the content sent in response to the initial collection query. In such circumstances, to avoid disruptions in topology forwarding, increase the data push chunk size in OMi. Follow the steps:
-
Log on to the OMi web interface.
-
Navigate to Administration > Setup and Maintenance > Infrastructure Settings.
-
Click the Foundations radio button.
-
From the Foundations drop-down list, select RTSM Fuses.
-
In the RTSM Fuses - Fuses Settings part, click the Edit icon on the right-hand side of the Data Push Chunk Size.
-
In the Edit Setting window, in the Value text box, replace the default value (
2000
) with a suitably higher value. For example, you can specify the value20000
.
When the entire SIM topology is available in OMi, you can revert the Data Push Chunk Size option to its predefined value to avoid potential decrease in OMi performance.
