Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

AWSCW (integration with Amazon Web Service CloudWatch)
Amazon CloudWatch (AWSCW) monitors your Amazon Web Services resources and the applications you run on AWS in real-time. You can use CloudWatch to collect and track metrics, which are the variables you want to measure for your resources and applications. CloudWatch alarms send notifications or automatically make changes to the resources you are monitoring based on rules that you define. For example, you can monitor the CPU usage and disk reads and writes of your Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances and then use this data to determine whether you should launch additional instances to handle increased load. You can also use this data to stop under-used instances to save money. In addition to monitoring the built-in metrics that come with AWS, you can monitor your own custom metrics. With CloudWatch, you gain system-wide visibility into resource utilization, application performance, and operational health.

BOE
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise
Chargeback
Chargeback allows organizations to charge for business services or IT services.
CMS (integration with Configuration Management System)
Configuration Management System (CMS) comprises three components: UCMDB, Discovery, and Configuration Manager. The UCMDB reconciles data from multiple discovered and federated sources into one data set, model your business services, calculate the potential impact of changes within these services, track changes for any configuration item, and contains reporting capabilities to transform CMDB data into comprehensible, actionable information that helps answer critical questions and solve business problems. HPE Universal Discovery (UD) software is used by UCMDB to acquire and maintain application and IT infrastructure data. Configuration Manager makes it possible to analyze IT environments in order to move toward fewer standards and improve IT management processes. This helps you improve data quality in your configuration management system (CMS), avoid single points of failure, achieve geographic redundancy of applications and drive changes based on configuration standards.
CSA (integration with Cloud Service Automation)
Cloud Service Automation (CSA) is a platform that orchestrates the deployment of computation and infrastructure resources and of complex multi-tier application architectures. HP CSA integrates and leverages the strengths of a hybrid cloud environment, providing the ability to design and deploy enterprise-ready cloud services tailored to the business needs of your organization. It works through a catalog-based subscription process. Subscribers request and modify cloud service offerings with pre-defined pricing and other customer-specific features. Once the request is approved, through a policy-driven process, HP CSA deploys the cloud service offering using a structured lifecycle with pre-defined integration mechanisms for invoking external processes.
The integration with CSA as new content pack provides reporting analysis based on CSA data model.
CO (Integration with Cloud Optimizer)
Cloud Optimizer (CO) is a web-based analysis and visualization tool that analyzes performance trends of elements in virtualized environments. CO gives you at-a-glance visibility across your virtual environment for real-time insights into performance, capacity, and health. This helps you to optimize your infrastructure and quickly solve virtualization and cloud performance issues. It enables virtualization monitoring by providing an overview of the environment, near-real-time and historical data analysis and triaging using an interactive dashboard. It also enables monitoring for cloud and hypervisor environments. CO provides performance monitoring, graphing, and reporting in a single interface.
Content Acceleration Packs (CAPs)
Content Acceleration Packs (CAPs) are ready-to-import packages that include Dashboard pages that display Scorecards and components, KPIs, Metrics, Contexts (universes), data (.CSV files), and documentation for the CAP.
CAPs describe typical stories that show how correct implementation of IT Business Analytics drives Performance Improvement and Cost Reduction for the IT organization. CAPs demonstrate IT Business Analytics capabilities, and helps you add basic elements that can be used to customize your Dashboard.
You can also create your own CAPs.
Content Pack (CP)
Content Packs (CP) contain all the artifacts needed to connect to the relevant data source and gather data from that data source. Content packs include:
-
The definition of the data model used for the connection.
-
The type of data gathered from the data source.
-
The ETL definitions.
-
The definition files.
-
The configuration files.
-
The scripts that help build and define the Data Warehouse.
Contexts
A Context (universe) represents a business universe.
A Context is a set of entities. Each entity is a set of fields. Each field can be a dimension, measure, or fact. It can be measured.
A formula calculates, for a specified time period, using the values of specific entities, a value that represents a specific aspect of the business. The value is given to a Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The KPI represents the specific aspect of the business.
Each universe includes some KPIs. The KPIs are the building blocks of the Studio and the KPI engine.
The universe entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) are logical views of the universe data models. The ERDs are interactive and contain details about the tables and classes used in the universe.
Dimension
An entity that describes, qualifies, or otherwise adds meaning to the measurements (facts) that business users want to analyze.
DWH (Data Warehouse)
The Data Warehouse can connect to other products (data sources) and gather data about these products. An integration is available for each product (data source). The connection from the data source to the DWH is called a content pack. DCS extracts the data from the specific data source. Content packs contain all the artifacts needed to connect to the relevant data source and gather data from that data source.
ETL (Extract Transform Load)
E - The extract process extracts delta data from the source systems and writes it to delimited flat files on the file system. The data warehouse uses the Change Data Capture (CDC) technique for extracting data from the source tables.
T - During the transformation process, ITBA transforms data into the format of the target tables and populates the load-ready target staging tables. The Transformation layer contains load-ready tables that match the internal structure of the data warehouse target tables.
L - The load process adds new records, updates existing records, and flags deleted records in the data warehouse target layer fact and dimension tables.
IT Data Model
A data model is an abstract model that documents and organizes the business data for communication between team members and is used as a plan for developing applications, specifically how data is stored and accessed.
The IT Data Model (also known as the Conceptual Data Model) defines business concepts, entities, terms, facts, and relationships.
The entities used in IT Business Analytics are based on the IT Data Model (not 100% compliant). The entities are described in the contexts (universes).
Measure
A value collected by the executable during execution, such as the number of rows processed during an ETL job, or an amount extracted from a table that describes a business item in a source application.
Metadata
Agreed-upon definitions and business rules stored in a centralized repository to ensure that business users use common terminology for key business terms.
Metric
A framework to establish and collect measurements of success or failure on a regulated, timed basis that can be audited and verified.
Multi-Dimensional
The aggregation of data by the dimensions of the business. For example, sales by region by product by time.
PPM (Integration with Project and Portfolio Management)
Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Software provides an integrated platform for planning, staffing and monitoring Agile development projects, as well as managing application quality. PPM Center offers a consolidated view of all IT activities so that management has better visibility into the portfolio, more effective controls, greater flexibility in applying automated processes, and better-defined quality standards.
SA (Integration with Server Automation)
Server Automation (SA) enables you to govern the full spectrum of your software management requirements. With SA policy-based software management you can automate software installation and application configuration, and ensure that managed servers are compliant with software policies.
Showback
Showback does not charge, but shows an organization how much it costs to deliver the services that they are consuming. (Bill of IT Services)
