Installation

Before installing Ops Connector for OEM, go through a list of the supported operating systems and consider the prerequisites. Before you start with the installation process, familiarize yourself with the conventions listed in the table in this section.

Installation of Ops Connector for OEM consists of several tasks. Complete them in the following order:

  1. Download Ops Connector for OEM and install the package.

  2. Copy the Event Connector to the OEM host and register it with OEM.

  3. Install the OMi topology synchronization package, topology views, and the OMi content pack for metrics.

    Although this task is mandatory only if you plan to collect OEM topology or OEM metrics or if you intend to enrich the collected OEM events with topology-related information, service provider strongly recommends that you perform it in any case.

    Ops Connector for OEM supports upgrade scenarios. If you have a previous product version 3.10 installed on the target host, you can upgrade to 3.11 by installing the new package. Service provider recommends that all relevant data is backed up prior to the upgrade process.

Conventions Used in the Document

The following placeholders are used in the instructions throughout this document. When performing the steps specify the actual value in place of each placeholder.

Placeholder Meaning (Default) Values, Examples, and Notes
<Version> Product version string of Ops Connector for OEM: major version, minor version, and build number. It is embedded in the filename of the installation package.

Example:
03.11.xxx

This string represents the version 3.11 and the build number xxx.

<OvInstallDir>

Program installation directory of  Operations Agent that is jointly used by Operations Connector and Ops Connector for OEM.

Default value (Windows):
C:\Program Files\HP \
\HP BTO Software

Value (Linux):
/opt/OV

<OvDataDir>

Data installation directory of Operations Agent that is jointly used by Operations Connector and Ops Connector for OEM.

Default value (Windows):
C:\ProgramData\HP\HP BTO Software

The C:\ProgramData directory is hidden by default.

Value (Linux):
/var/opt/OV

<OEMHome>

Program installation directory of Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Example (Linux):
/u01/app/oracle/middleware/oms11g

<EventConnectorHome>

Directory where Event Connector is installed on the Oracle Enterprise Manager host.

Example (Linux):
/u01/app/oracle/middleware \
/oms11g /sysman/connector \
/HP_BSM/Connector

<SysmanPassword>

Password of the SYSMAN user account in Oracle Management Service.

 

All paths in this document use slash (/) as path delimiters except in contexts where operating system specifics are stated. When performing the steps use the path delimiters that your operating system supports.
