Backing up and Restoring the Configuration

It is recommended that you regularly back up the configuration of OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager—copy the changes that you made to the predefined OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager settings to a safe location. You can later use the backup copies to:

  • Revert to a working configuration in case of a wrong or non-functioning configuration

  • Preserve configuration history for future reference

  • Migrate the settings after a product reinstallation or upgrade

Backing up the Configuration

To back up the OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager configuration, follow the steps:

  1. To prevent changes to the Operations Connector policies, log out from the Operations Connector web interface.

  2. To prevent changes to the integration services configuration, close the text editor in which service configuration files are opened.

  3. Choose a safe location to store the backup copies. Write down the absolute path of the backup directory.

    Although you can create the backup copies in the original directories or, for example, in the <OvDataDir>/installation/HPBsmIntSapSolma/userconf directory, It is recommended that you choose a location outside the <OvInstallDir> and <OvDataDir> directories for safety reasons.

  4. Copy the following items to the backup directory:

    Item Filesystem Objects to Copy

    Integration services configuration

    Entire <OvDataDir>/conf/HPBsmIntSapSolma/genint directory

    Operations Connector policies

    For each applicable policy: the <PolicyUUID>_data and <PolicyUUID>_header.xml files from the <OvDataDir>/datafiles/policymanagement/store directory

Restoring the Configuration

Prerequisites for restore:

  • The components corresponding to the OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager integration services must be registered with Operations Agent.

    Registration is performed either automatically by the Software Installer during product installation or manually as part of the documented installation procedure.

  • The integration services must be stopped.

  • OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager policies for SAP Solution Manager integration should be deactivated.

To restore the OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager configuration, follow the steps:

  1. Copy the following items from the backup directory (and allow the copy process to overwrite the objects at the target locations):

    Directory <OvDataDir>/conf/HPBsmIntSapSolma/genint
    Files <PolicyUUID>_data and <PolicyUUID>_header.xml of each policy Directory <OvDataDir>/datafiles/policymanagement/store

  3. Start the configured integration services. For instructions, see Starting and Stopping the Services topic.
