Configuring Topology Collection

To integrate SAP Solution Manager topology into OMi, perform the following steps on your Operations Connector host:

  1. Change the current directory to <OvDataDir>/conf/HPBsmIntSapSolma/genint and open the topology integration configuration file in a plain text editor.

  2. Review the preconfigured values of basic configuration options and adjust them as needed. Add and configure advanced options if necessary. For descriptions of basic and advanced options, see Integration Configuration Options topic.

  3. Save your changes.

  4. If importing policies failed during installation, import them manually. Log on to the Operations Connector web interface and import the policy for SAP Solution Manager topology by navigating to the <OvDataDir>/installation/HPBsmIntSapSolma/policies directory and selecting the following files:

    • 6d06b53d-c440-479e-904b-7a7b449cd6f6_data

    • 6d06b53d-c440-479e-904b-7a7b449cd6f6_header.xml

To import the policy for SAP Solution Manager self-discovery topology, select the following files:

    • 9514ad7f-b848-4ba2-bd3a-48f70620b57b_data

    • 9514ad7f-b848-4ba2-bd3a-48f70620b57b_header.xml

The type of the Operations Connector policy for SAP Solution Manager topology and self-discovery topology is XML File. Operations Connector validates it after importing.

  5. Review the policies to ensure their settings are proper for your OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager configuration.

  6. From the Operations Connector web interface, activate the imported policies.

  7. To start the topology integration service, run the following command:

    ovc -start saptopo

Startup of the service initiates topology collection from SAP Solution Manager, and forwarding of the topology to OMi.

Verify your connection settings by checking for the presence of the
sap_topology.xml and sap_selfdiscoverytopo.xml files in the <OvDataDir>/datafiles/HPBsmIntSapSolma directory on the Operations Connector host. If the file does not exist, check the corresponding OpsCx for SAP Solution Manager log file. For details, see Log Files topic.

If you deactivate the Operations Connector policy for SAP Solution Manager topology, topology changes continue to be collected while the policy remains inactive after the deactivation. The processing and forwarding of accumulated changes resumes when you reactivate the policy.
