Creating the Integration Services

To create the integration services for a Microsoft SCOM instance and register their components with Operations Agent, perform the following steps:

  1. Launch the Configuration Utility of Operations Connector for Microsoft SCOM:

Windows Server 2012: On the Start screen, click the application shortcut HPSCOMConfig. In the Apps view, you can find it in the group.

Windows Server 2008: Navigate to Start > All Programs > HP > HPBsmIntSCOM and then double-click HPSCOMConfig.

The application is automatically launched with administrative privileges. Upon launching, a command prompt window appears for a short while. Only one instance of the Configuration Utility can run at a moment. If you attempt to launch a second instance, the window of the already running instance is brought to the front.

The rest of this procedure may not apply if you use the Configuration Utility in a language other than English. For instructions on how to launch the Configuration Utility in a non-English language, see Launching the Configuration Utility in a Non-English Language topic.

  2. In the Processes page, in the Operations Agent OVC Process Configuration part, click Add New Process Set.

  3. In the Add new set window, in the SCOM SDK Library Version part, select the option corresponding to the version of your Microsoft SCOM instance.

Select the 2012 option for versions 2012 or later.

  4. In the Collector Process Type part, select the integration service type:

    • Events Connector (e)—to create the event integration service for collecting Microsoft SCOM events

    • Topology Connector (t)—to create the topology integration service for collecting Microsoft SCOM topology

    • Metrics Connector (m)—to create the metric integration service for collecting Microsoft SCOM metrics

The Resulting Process Name (for Events) text box shows the projected name of the event integration service. Integration services for other data types follow the same template. For more information, see Integration Services.

  5. To create the selected integration services and register the corresponding components, click Add. This also closes the window.

  6. Click Close to close the Configuration Utility.

  7. Open a Command Prompt window with administrative privileges.

  8. To verify successful creation of the integration services and registration of the corresponding components, run the following command:

    ovc -status

The created integration services are listed with the status Stopped.
