Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

Log on to the web client (power user view)
To log on to the power user view of the HPE Service Manager web client, follow these steps:
- Contact your system administrator to obtain the following information about the Service Manager server to which you want to connect:
- The web server host name or IP address
- The web server port number
- The name of the deployed Service Manager application
- Your user name and password
- Verify that your web browser version is supported. For more information, see Compatibility matrices.
- Verify that your web browser is configured as follows:
- Cookies are enabled.
- JavaScript is enabled.
- Pop-ups are enabled. You may need to add the URL to the browser exception list.
- The Java plug-in is installed (if you want to use the graphical workflow feature in Change Management or Release Management).
-
Type the following URL in the address field of your web browser:
http://servername:portnumber/appname/index.do
This URL contains the following placeholders:
- servername refers to the host name or IP address of the web server.

https://servername:HTTPSportnumber/appname/index.do
- You can append parameters to the URL to modify the web client appearance and behavior. For example, you can specify the help server location so that the web client users can easily access the Service Manager online help. See Setting web client preferences.
- On the login page, type your user name and password.
- Select the language for the web client. The language defaults to the language setting in the web browser environment.
