Suggested upgrade order

For existing implementations, the following upgrade order is recommended:

  1. Upgrade your RDBMS if needed.
  2. If you are on a version earlier than 9.61, install the Service Manager 9.61 Server without loading the applications and demonstration data, and restore your old server configurations. For details, see Upgrade the Service Manager Server.
  3. Install the Service Manager 9.61 Windows Client and restore your old configurations. For details, see Upgrade the Windows Client.
  4. Install the Service Manager 9.61 Web Tier, and restore your old configurations. For details, see Upgrade the Web Tier.
  5. (Recommended) Upgrade your applications to version 9.61. For more information, see Upgrade the applications from version 9.60 or Upgrade the applications from a version earlier than 9.60 according to your existing applications version.

Note The Applications Patch Manager or Upgrade Utility upgrades not only your applications but also your language packs to version 9.61.

Tip While it is possible to upgrade only the Service Manager Server and Clients to the new version, many of the new features are not supported by the old applications. To get the benefit of all the new features, you must upgrade to the latest Service Manager applications as well.

  6. Upgrade other components as needed, and restore their old configurations if any.
