Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

Associate a configuration item (CI) to a baseline
Applies to User roles: Configuration Manager
Configuration Administrator
A System Administrator must first create and authorize a baseline record before you can associate a configuration item (CI) to it. A CI can only be associated with one baseline record at a time.
Tip You can use Mass Update to associate multiple CIs to a baseline record.
To associate a CI to a baseline record, follow these steps:
-
Click Configuration Management > Resources > Search CIs.
- Use search or advanced search to find one or more records.
-
Select the CI record that you want to associate to a baseline record from the list of search results. Service Manager displays the details of the selected CI record.
- Open the Baseline section.
-
From the Baseline field, click the Fill button. Service Manager opens a list of available, authorized baselines or displays an error message if you do not have any authorized baselines.
-
Double-click the baseline record that you want to use to manage the CI. Service Manager displays the baseline name and attributes.
-
Click Save. Service Manager associates the CI to the baseline record and compares the baseline record attributes to the CI attributes. If any of the CI attributes differ from the baseline attributes, Service Manager displays the warning "Configuration Item is out of compliance with Baseline."
