Switching the System Navigator

By default, the System Navigator is displayed in the left-hand panel of the Service Management interface.

Web client

In the web client, you can switch the System Navigator between the following two modes:

  • Sidebar mode

In the sidebar mode, the System Navigator only displays the icons of the top-level menu items. When the mouse hovers over an icon, a pop-up menu immediately appears on the right side of this icon and displays the submenu. In this mode, the System Navigator is only about one-third as wide as in the accordion mode. The sidebar mode provides more working space and offers better efficiency for you to locate a menu item.

    Note

    • The sidebar mode only works in Power User view (index.do), but does not work in Accessible view (accessible.do).
    • The sidebar mode is designed for users who have normal vision. Therefore, when the focus is on an icon in the sidebar mode, JAWS does not read the name of the item, but notifies the user to switch the System Navigator to the accordion mode.
  • Accordion mode

The accordion mode uses both icons and text. In addition, the accordion mode allows you to manage favorites.

You can switch the System Navigator to the sidebar mode by clicking the Collapse Navigator (<<) button. Click the >> button to switch to the accordion mode. Alternatively, you can use the Alt+N keyboard shortcut to toggle between the two modes.

Your web browser can remember the current mode of the System Navigator when you log out, and the web client keeps the same mode in your next login. If you clear the cache of the web browser, the System Navigator is in the accordion mode in your next login.

Windows client

In the Windows client, you can collapse or hide the System Navigator to increase space on the screen for regular activities. To do this, click the Minimize button on the right side of the panel toolbar. To display the panel again, click the Restore button on the far left of the screen.
