Searching Configuration Management

You can search for a specific configuration item record or a set of configuration item records. For example, if you type the beginning letters of the configuration item in the Display Name field, such as sap, and click Search, a list of configuration items starting with sap is displayed. The first record in the list is displayed in the configuration item details form. If you leave all fields blank, click Search to perform a true query and return a list of all configuration item records.

What is a joined query?

In Configuration Management, joined queries enable you to search a specific device type by using the Search form for that device type. Join tables are used by Service Manager to make searches more efficient and useful. When you search for a specific device type, the system creates a join table that includes those items that have the attributes you searched for based on the search criteria you provide.
