Configure two-way communication

If your network allows HTTPS connections through the firewall in both directions, but with certain restrictions, the following configuration options are possible in OMi to accommodate these restrictions:

  • Proxies. If your network allows only certain proxy systems to open outbound connections through the firewall, you can redirect OMi communication through these proxies. See Redirect HTTPS communication through proxies.

  • Communication broker ports. If your network allows inbound connections to only certain destination ports, but not to port 383, you can configure alternate communication broker ports. See Configure communication broker ports.

  • Local ports. If your network allows outbound connections from only certain local ports, you can configure OMi to use specific local ports. See Configure local communication ports.

In distributed environments with more than one gateway server, the agents do not communicate directly with the gateway servers. Instead, a load balancer receives the communication from the agents and directs it to any gateway server based on the configured load balancing method. In such environments, the communication options must be identical on all gateway servers to avoid communication disruptions.
