Configure Node Info Policies

1. Open the Policy Templates manager:

   Administration > Monitoring > Policy Templates

   Alternatively, click Policy Templates.

2. In the Policy Template Groups pane, expand Policy Management > Templates grouped by type > Configuration.

3. Click the Node Info folder, and then do one of the following:

   • To add a new policy template, in the Policy Templates pane, click the  New Item button, and then click the Add New Policy Template... or the Add New Policy Template (Raw Mode) button.

     The New Node Info Template Editor opens.

   • To edit an existing policy template, click the policy template in the Policy Templates pane, click the  Edit Item button, and then click the Edit Policy Template or the Edit Policy Template (Raw Mode) button.

     The Edit Node Info Template Editor opens.

Node info policies use the following syntax:

<parameter_name>=<parameter_value>

[<namespace>]

The HPE Operations Agent configuration namespace to be updated.

<parameter_name>

The name of the HPE Operations Agent configuration parameter.

<parameter_value>

The value of the HPE Operations Agent configuration parameter. Only ASCII characters are supported. New line characters are not permitted.

The following example node info policy enables the message stream interface (MSI) on the managed node and allows MSI instances to create or modify events with automatic actions. The policy also configures the agent to redirect all communication to the proxy proxy1.example.com at port 8080.

When you specify an SNMPv3 password, encrypt the password with the opcpwcrpt tool.

On the OML server, run /opt/OV/bin/OpC/install/opcpwcrpt <SNMPv3_password>
Copy the output into the Password field.

If your encrypted password contains a colon, add a backslash \ in front of the colon. For example, ,*==[7__@*_=]?2@*#D*#:@*=EwZ must be ,*==[7__@*_=]?2@*#D*#\:@*=EwZ
The colon is required as a field separator for the SNMPv3 configuration in ovconf or in the node info policy.

1. In the Node Info Policy Editor, in the Properties page, type a Name for the policy.

   Optional. Provide a description of the policy (Description), select the instrumentation that will be deployed with the policy onto the host system where the agent is running (Instrumentation), and select the operating systems with which the policy is compatible (OS Types).

2. In the Policy Data page, type the configuration parameters and their values using the HPE Operations Agent node info policy syntax. If you are creating a new policy, copy and paste template data from an existing policy template. Alternatively, click the button to load policy data from a policy template file on your computer.

3. Click Save and Close to save the policy template and exit the wizard.
