Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse

Performance Dashboard Mappings
This
The Performance Dashboard Mappings enables users to perform the following management-related tasks:
-
Assign default Performance Dashboards for CIT
- Assign default Performance Dashboard based on conditional property
- Define Instance IDs to define instances for launching Performance Dashboards
Learn more
You can search for specific CI types and view CI types that match specified filter criteria. There are two filters:
-
Show only CI types with assigned performance dashboards
-
View (Show CI types contained within a specified view)
Note Join relationships defined in views are ignored.
For information about the Performance Dashboard Mappings, see Performance Dashboard Mappings User Interface.
Instance Identifiers are used to launch instance based Performance Dashboards at run-time from a CI. You can use the instance identifiers when the same host is collecting data for a collection of CIs. For example, a single Cloud Optimizer can collect data for a collection of hosts and clusters. Performance Dashboard needs to uniquely identify the data corresponding to the CI from the data collector. The CI attributes are specified as instance identifier for the CIT. The value is resolved at run-time against a CI instance. The value is then sent to the data collector, which fetches the selected CI specific data.
You can assign Performance Dashboards to CITs and also choose the default Performance Dashboard for a specific CIT. You can view or add the recommended dashboards or you can define the conditional dashboards. If you are loading the Performance Dashboards for a CIT, the conditional dashboards that are defined takes precedence over the recommended dashboards.
Tasks
You can use the Search field to locate the first instance of the CI type name or part of a name that you specify.
To search for a specified CI type:
-
Open the Performance Dashboard manager from Administration:
Administration > Operations Console > Performance Dashboard Mappings
Alternatively, click Performance Dashboard Mappings.
-
In the Search field, enter a string.
Note The search string must be at least three characters long. Searching is automatically started as soon as the third character is entered and the first match is highlighted. This prerequisite avoids searches being started too often and resources being blocked. Names with less than three characters can be found by clicking .
The first CI type in the CI Types tree to match the specified string is highlighted. If that CI is not initially visible, the CI tree is expanded to display the CI Type.
-
Click to find the next occurrence of the CI Type for which you are searching.
You can use the filter to display all CI types that have content assigned to them.
To filter the CI tree to show only CI types with assigned performance dashboards:
-
Open the Performance Dashboard manager from Administration:
Administration > Operations Console > Performance Dashboard Mappings
Alternatively, click Performance Dashboard Mappings.
-
In the Filter pane, select Show only CI types with assigned performance dashboard.
The CI Types pane displays only those CI types that have performance dashboard assigned.
Note You can use the
Show only CI types with assigned performance dashboard
filter and the filtering by a selected view together. The result displays only CI types contained within the specified view and with assigned performance dashboard.
You can use the filter to display all CI types that are contained within a certain view.
Note Join relationships defined in views are ignored.
To filter the CI Types tree with a view:
-
Open the Performance Dashboard manager from Administration:
Administration > Operations Console > Performance Dashboard Mappings
Alternatively, click Performance Dashboard Mappings.
-
In the Search pane, select View.
The View field becomes active.
-
Click the Browse Views (...) to open the Views selection dialog box.
-
Select the view that you want to use, and select OK.
The CI Types tree is updated to display only the CI types that match the view selected.
You can use Expand and Collapse to expand or collapse the CI tree. The Expand option expands all CI types which are under the selected CI type. The Collapse option collapses all open nodes except for the selected node.
If no item matches the filter, the
No CI type found that match the filter
message is displayed.Note You can use the
Show only CI types with assigned performance dashboard
filter and the filtering by a selected view together. The result displays only CI types contained within the specified view and with assigned performance dashboards.
To define the Instance Identifiers, follow these steps:
- Click Administration > Operations Console > Performance Dashboard Mappings.
- In the CI Types pane, navigate and select the CIT for which you want to assign the dashboard. For example, you can choose Configuration Item > Node > Computer > Unix.
