Service Level Objective (SLO)

A Service Level Objective (SLO) is a negotiated document that defines the service to be delivered to a customer in qualitative terms. A small number of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) may also be defined within an SLO. An SLO is commonly preferred to Service Level Agreements (SLA) because it provides a clearer understanding of the exact nature of the service offered. SLOs focus on the total contribution of the service to the entire business value chain.
