Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.

Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |

Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

CI Customizations
The CI Customizations page enables you to add KPIs, HIs, and context menus to CIs within a view, and edit existing KPI settings. You can attach new KPIs to a CI (in addition to the default KPIs) to broaden the information displayed on the CI. For example, you can add an OT Impact KPI to assess the ongoing cost of an application that is not available.
Caution If you must customize Service Health, it is recommended that you avoid making manual changes in CI Customizations unless it is for short term testing. It is more manageable to make changes via KPI Assignments, Propagation, or in the Indicator Definitions. If you modify a KPI in CI Customizations and later want to apply a KPI assignment, delete the KPI in CI Customizations and then click “Apply all rules” in CI Customizations.

Administration > Service Health > CI Customizations
Alternatively, click CI Customizations.

For general information on KPIs and HIs, see Service Health Concepts.
You can find the default definitions of KPIs and HIs in the KPI Definitions and Indicator Definitions UIs. When you attach a KPI to a CI, you can use the default indicator properties or modify properties for the indicator.
For details on the KPI definitions, see KPI Definitions. For details on the indicator definitions, see Indicator Definitions.
Note Attaching a KPI to a CI and defining the indicator properties must be performed with care. These actions can result in KPIs that give an inaccurate performance assessment. For details, see Service Health Concepts.

Within the CI hierarchy, a CI may appear more than once. When you select a CI, all instances of that CI are automatically selected.
Virtual CIs (defined in the RTSM as Group By CIs) cannot have indicators or context menus assigned to them. You cannot select virtual CIs in the CI Customizations page.

There can be only one instance of each KPI for a CI. For each new KPI instance, you select the KPI definition and the business rule. Where relevant, you also define additional information required by the rule.
You can attach a KPI that has a KPI definition. For details, see KPI Definitions.
When you attach a KPI to multiple CIs, the KPI is added to all CIs that do not already have that KPI attached. All instances of the KPI have the same defined business rule and properties.

You can attach an HI that has an indicator definition. For details, see Indicator Definitions.
There can be only one instance of each HI for a CI.

You can attach context menus to CIs in CI Customization. For details on the available context menus and the instructions on how to modify context menu templates, see CI Context Menus.

For OMi to save status changes for a KPI (persistent data), the KPI must be attached to a CI for which the Save KPI over time data check box is selected. Save KPI over time data is enabled by default for Business Application, Business Process, and Business Service CIs. For more information see Persistent Data and Historical Data.

-
In the KPI section, specify the KPI and its business rule, calculation method, and related HIs (when relevant).
Note Adding a related HI to a KPI does not assign the HI to the CI itself. This means that if the HI is assigned to the CI, this KPI will include the HI in its calculation.
The list of available HIs that can be used to calculate the KPI on the selected CIs is based on their CI types. The indicator definitions specify which HIs are applicable to each CI type. For details, see Indicator Definitions.
-
In the Calculation Script section, adjust the script that is used to calculate KPI values for business rules.
-
In the Thresholds section, define the thresholds that are used to calculate the KPI status.

Click Create or Save.
The KPI is added to all of the selected CIs that do not already have that KPI attached. All instances of the KPI on these CIs will use the same defined business rule and properties.
Important If one of the selected CIs already has the KPI assigned, a warning message appears, informing you that the KPI instance based on the chosen KPI definition already exists for the CI. You can choose to either replace the existing KPI instance based on that KPI definition or skip that CI and not change the existing KPI instance.
