Searching the Help
To search for information in the Help, type a word or phrase in the Search box. When you enter a group of words, OR is inferred. You can use Boolean operators to refine your search.
Results returned are case insensitive. However, results ranking takes case into account and assigns higher scores to case matches. Therefore, a search for "cats" followed by a search for "Cats" would return the same number of Help topics, but the order in which the topics are listed would be different.
Search for | Example | Results |
---|---|---|
A single word | cat
|
Topics that contain the word "cat". You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "cats". |
A phrase. You can specify that the search results contain a specific phrase. |
"cat food" (quotation marks) |
Topics that contain the literal phrase "cat food" and all its grammatical variations. Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying an OR operator, which finds topics with one of the individual words instead of the phrase. |
Search for | Operator | Example |
---|---|---|
Two or more words in the same topic |
|
|
Either word in a topic |
|
|
Topics that do not contain a specific word or phrase |
|
|
Topics that contain one string and do not contain another | ^ (caret) |
cat ^ mouse
|
A combination of search types | ( ) parentheses |

How to Customize Top View
For an overview of Top View, see Top View Component.
To customize the Top View display, open Infrastructure Settings:
Administration > Setup and Maintenance > Infrastructure Settings
Alternatively, click Infrastructure Settings.
-
Select Applications.
-
Select Service Health Application.
-
In the Service Health Application - Top View Properties area, modify the entries as described in the following sections.
Note To enable sound notification in Top View, modify the Sound Notification setting that you can find in the Service Health Application - Sound Notification area. If the sound notification is enabled (set to True), a sound alert is played when a CI in the view changes its status to critical (red).
By default, a CI topology is displayed in the hierarchic layout. If you want your CI topology to be displayed in the circular, organic, or layer layout by default, edit the Default Top View Layout setting and choose the desired layout.
If you choose the layer layout, you can customize it further:
- Order of layers. To define the order of the functional layers, edit the Layer order infrastructure setting. The value should be a comma-separated list in which the layers are specified from top to bottom.
- Number of CIs in the layer layout. By default, the maximum number of CIs that can be displayed in the layer layout is 750. To change the default number, edit the Maximum number of CIs displayed in the layer layout infrastructure setting.
In Top View, CIs are arranged with a minimum distance between each parent and child CI. To increase the maximum distance between CIs, increase the value of the Maximum distance between CIs setting. To decrease the maximum distance, lower this value.
-
HI Display. By default, CIs are shown with their HI icons. To change whether HIs are shown by default, edit the Show HIs by default setting.
-
KPI Display. By default, CIs are not shown with their KPI icons. To change whether KPIs are shown by default, edit the Show KPIs by default setting.
-
Hide Root CI. You can choose whether to show or hide the view root CI when a view has a single CI under the view root CI. To hide the view root CI, define the Hide the view root in Top View setting as True.
-
Custom Background Layout. If you are using a custom background image, you can set it to be located in the upper left corner (for example, if you are using your corporate logo), or stretched across the Top View page. Edit the Custom Background Image Layout setting as needed.
-
Custom Background Image. You can define your own image to be used as the background for Top View (replaced or placed on top of the default background). The image file must be a GIF, JPG, or PNG file, and the file name may not include spaces. Save the image in <Gateway Server root directory>/AppServer/webapps/site.war/images/topview, and enter the image file name in the Custom Background Image Name setting.
By default, the Top View component opens with four levels of CIs. You can then expand a CI at the fourth level and see its child CIs. To modify the number of levels displayed when you open Top View, edit the Initial Number of Levels setting.
To define the CI status level that will appear in the Problematic Subtree, set the value for the Problematic Subtree Worst Status setting. The possible values are warning, minor, major, and critical.
In rare cases, if an OMi client is loaded with many Top View pages running concurrently in My Workspace, and you have been logged on for an extended period of time, an out-of-memory issue can cause the browser to freeze.
You can set Top View to refresh independently by defining the Independent refresh setting in Administration > Setup and Maintenance > Infrastructure Settings > Service Health Application > Top View Properties as True. Note that the refresh rate settings apply to both the Top View and the View Explorer component.
Note If you set the Independent refresh setting to True, you can no longer modify the refresh rate in the Component Menu menu.
To define the frequency (in seconds) with which the client requests data updates from the server, edit the Independent refresh rate setting as needed.
By default, the maximum number of displayed child CIs of a view root CI is 100. If this number is exceeded, CIs are grouped into virtual folders. To modify this number, edit the Virtual group size setting.
