Baseline

A baseline is the recorded state of an item at any specific point in time, such as a Configuration, a Process, or any other set of data.

Examples:

  • A baseline can be defined in Continuous Service Improvement to establish a starting point for planning improvements.
  • In Capacity Management, you can document performance characteristics during normal operations.
  • In Configuration Management, you can enable the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure to automatically restore to a known configuration if a change fails.
  • You can also specify a standard configuration for data capture, release, or audit purposes.
