CI group

A Configuration Item (CI) group is a logical group of related configuration items. A CI group is used to manage a configuration as one item in a group, such as a software release or upgrade. Individual CIs can be grouped into one or more logical groups or clusters with the same characteristics. The group is then used to identify a set of CIs associated with a release and identify any items with problems or items with supported contracts, such as a maintenance contract that covers all printers in one or more locations or a software license for multiple workstations.
