Add a software license model to the catalog

Applies to User Roles:

Configuration Administrator

You can add a software license model to the catalog to track license information, including whether the license authorizes single- or multi-user, total number of installs, and evaluation rights. You must create a new model before you can create new configuration items (CIs) that are based on the model.

To add a software license model to the catalog, follow these steps:

  1. Click Configuration  Management > Configuration  Management Administration  > Models. The Search Model Records form opens.
  2. Type or select the new model information, including a unique Part Number, and then click Add.
  3. Double-click Software License to select it as the Line Item Category.
Service Manager adds the model record, and then displays several more tabs where you can enter additional information about the model.
  4. Select the Software tab, and then type the name in the Application Name field.
  5. Type or select the following License Information:
    • Single-User or Multi-User
    • Total Number of Installs
    • Evaluation Rights
  6. Type or select any additional information for the model on the other form tabs.

Note Select all tabs to make sure that you have completed all required fields.

  7. Click Save. Service Manager updates the model record.
  8. Click OK. You can now create new configuration items based on the new model.
